The first day of the festival was an outreach day planned for two schools in the townships of Pretoria. These schools had been identified as schools that cater to less fortunate learners in Mamelodi and Atteridgeville, Pretoria. The outreach day called on volunteers ranging from festival staff, attendees, sponsors, performers and any other stakeholders who were willing to lend a helping hand. Schools are the most opportune areas to fundamentally address inequality as education is a tool that is used to address poverty. The day of service allowed for HCA to actively improve the quality of education in the community.
Volunteers were expected to sign up prior to the service day and dedicate their time to helping with the renovations of the schools. Buses transported all volunteers from the main festival venue, Voortrekker Monument, to the two schools where they spent the day in service.
